Nelson Arns Neumann

Nelson Arns Neumann has a degree in Medicine from the Federal University of Paraná (1988), a master’s degree in Epidemiology from the Federal University of Pelotas (1997) and a doctorate in Public Health from the University of São Paulo (2000). He worked as a doctor, lay missionary, in the Diocese of Bacabal – Maranhão, in 1988 and 1989. Since 1990, he has worked in the National Coordination of Children’s Pastoral – Social Action Organization of the CNBB (National Conference of Bishops of Brazil), currently as Director of Services of Health and, since 2010, he is also a member of the Administrative Council of Pastoral da Criança Internacional. He has experience in the area of ​​Public Health, with an emphasis on Epidemiology, working mainly on the following topics: Primary health care, Children, Prevention, Intervention. Son of Dr. Zilda Arns Neumann, he is married to Luciane Friedrich Neumann and is the father of three daughters – Nicole, Nátali and Bárbara.
