Lars Grael

He won 2 Olympic medals in the Tornado Class (bronze in Seoul 88 and Atlanta 96), very young he became World Champion in the Snipe Class in pairs with his brother Torben, 10 times South American and 23 times National Sailing in Olympic and Pan American classes. Competing, he lost his right leg in a serious accident on September 6, 1998. He participated in the Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004 Olympics as technical coordinator of the Brazilian sailing team. He returned to sailing after the accident. In 2015, competing in Argentina, he reached the long-awaited WORLD TITLE OF THE STAR CLASS, alongside sailor Samuel Gonçalves, and they are two-time champions of the traditional Bacardi Cup in Miami, a feat never before achieved by Brazilians. In July 2017, he became the STAR CLASS WORLD VICE CHAMPION in Denmark. In 2018 he already won the title of champion of the Western Hemisphere in Miami, was European runner-up in Germany, and 6 times National Champion in the 7th District of the Star Class. He was National Secretary of Sports between 2001 and 2002, and Secretary of Youth, Sports and Leisure of the State of SP from 2003 to 2006. He served as Superintendent of LIGHT (Electricity) between 2007 and 2008, and is currently Superintendent of Institutional Relations of the Committee Brasileiro de Clubes – CBC , President of the Business Council of Sport of the Commercial Association of Rio de Janeiro, member of the National Committee of Athletes and advisor of the National Council of Sport – CNE.
